Dear Friends,
Lives are being turned around.
As followers of Jesus we are in the rescue business and follow in the footsteps of heroes who have gone before us.
Simon Ali is a current student of CFM, from a ministry in an interior village of Niger Republic. The ministry outreaches to Fulani and sends many disciples to CFM for training and safety. We currently have eight disciples (new Jesus Followers from Muslim Background: JFMB) from this ministry among hundreds JFMB’s presently in training at Wurin Alheri.
Simon Ali on missions in northern Africa.
One of CFM’s mother missionaries in Niger State, Nigeria, where they still use camels to interior regions.
We were brought up on stories of Hudson Taylor, William Carey, Mary Slessor, David Livingstone, and many others. All of them had such a sense of the majesty and primacy of God and his call. Their mission wasn’t imperialist but struck at the centre of imperialism to share the free love of Christ. As Livingstone relentlessly penetrated the heart of Africa, his goal was to ignite a new economy that would banish global slavery. Taylor said, “I am profoundly convinced that opium traffic is doing more evil in China in a week than missions are doing good in a year.” So many missionaries stood for China’s liberty: “This historical case study proves that missionaries can provoke global change by challenging powerful industries and even their own government’s policies---and by coming alongside the hurting they open the hearts of the resistant to the gospel.” (Read further, Making a Killing.) Let’s follow the tradition of these missionaries. The globalist cabal profited immensely from the misery they inflicted upon millions, and still does so today, and must be opposed. The missionary’s triumph was Christ is Lord with hope and faith: the evil energised by satan always loses. These missionaries paid a heavy personal cost for their devotion. Although sometimes discouraged, they could not be deterred, claiming Christ paid a higher cost for them, and for everyone. They were extremely fruitful in the end, God honouring his truth and love through their lives.
The Horror People Live Through
Two students from different parts of Nigeria. Reading these brief stories below will give you an idea of what people live through. Thousands like this come through CFM.
Victoria Adam, left
Victoria Adam, aged 35
Zaria, Kaduna State
On March 24th, 2022, while in church in the evening, Fulani came in and began to shoot, killed all the men and male children present in the church, they also burnt the church and houses. The pastors were also killed. In our village, Gidan Kajere or Tsauni Maya’u, all these areas were deserted, and the people scattered to different homes of relatives. Primary school compounds turned into refugee camps.
In my own case, my family moved to Katsina where we were offered temporary accommodation. It was from there I came to CFM in January. The community members in Zaria lost their houses, farmlands, and their source of income. The condition given by these terrorists is to convert to Islam so they could be given any assistance, land, and a home. As a result, those who could not endure converted to Islam. All efforts to resettle our people back to their villages has failed because the attacks and killing keeps reoccurring.
A student at CFM brought me to this school. So far, I am grateful to God because in this short time I’ve been here I’ve learnt a lot of things. I have only been here for eight weeks.
Rachel Yakubu, aged 27 Mubi South, Adamawa State, Nigeria In 2015 we were suddenly attacked by Boko Haram terrorists. They came and killed all the men and older boys, burnt the houses, destroyed our crops, and stole all the animals. Those of us who survived ran into the mountains in the forest. We stayed there for about five months. The people began to return only when some soldiers were positioned in the villages. All churches were burnt, all pastors killed. I have never witnessed this number of lifeless bodies in my life. It was a terrible time. Though people are now back in the villages, life is not normal. People have lost all that they had. The main priority is feeding, which also is very difficult. We have a lot of poverty. Children are out of school, especially orphans. Widows are often not able to afford the fee for farmland to cultivate any crop. Our village has no good source of drinking water. Water vendors go far away to get water to sell to those who can afford it. Life is not at all the same. People have been forcefully pushed into poverty, depression, and suffering. No help is coming from anywhere. The main issue in the community now is the lack of education and skills acquisition for young people because of poverty. I came to CFM through somebody who introduced me. My spoken English has improved, and God has helped me spiritually.
Thank God, women like Victoria and Rachel get the chance to rebuild: built up in faith, strengthened in literacy skills, gaining income-generating vocational and basic business skills, and conflict resolution skills to take back to their own communities as evangels of Christ.
If you are able, please help CFM meet our weekly costs in taking in, caring for, discipling and training all whom the Lord brings. Thank you.
Love in Christ,
Kent, Ruth and team
